27 Feb Boland Working Hard To Build On Bold Start
PAARL: Goldrush Boland captain, Clyde Reeves-Fortuin, believes ‘everyone pulling in the same direction’ has been a key reason for their early form in the 1 Day Cup.
The Paarl outfit currently top the competition standings with three wins in four matches.
“I think it’s a number of things that have made us tick,” he said. “We’ve communicated well as squad and as leadership.
“We focused on making sure everyone is pulling in the same direction and, more importantly, we’ve been checking in, making sure we still following our same process and not taking anything for granted.
“We are a big group and there’s so much respect for one another on and off the field and those are the things that carry you in a season, especially when you spend so much time with one another.”
They have thus far beaten the Dafabet Warriors, Hollywoodbets Dolphins and Momentum Multiply Titans and recently lost to Knights.
No individuals have really stood out thus far with the bat for Boland, though Imran Manack (11 wickets) is amongst the leaders with the ball.
Despite their early success, Reeves-Fortuin is not getting ahead of himself
“It’s been great thus far, obviously we’ve won our first three games and the vibe in the camp is good,” he explained. “But we are aware we’ve not achieved anything yet and understand what is required from us to continue the streak.”
Boland are scheduled to face the NWU Dragons this weekend and the skipper added: “I think with this group of players we always looking to improve, so we know there is room for improvement.
“In all areas and we want to be better every day and in every game.”
