NEWLANDS – With preparations in full swing, excitement is building at World Sports Betting Newlands Cricket Ground as it gears up to kickstart the 2025/26 summer international cricket season, with anticipation building among fans, players, and staff alike.
The summer season will be launched in style as the Proteas Women take centre stage in a white-ball series against Irelands, featuring three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals between 5 and 19 December 2025. The tour beings with the opening T20 International at Newlands on Friday, 5 December, starting at 14h00.
Beyond the women’s series, the action continues with the highly anticipated Betway SA20 Season 4, starting in Cape Town on Friday, 26 December 2025. Defending champions MI Cape Town will open their campaign at home against Durban’s Super Giants, with Newlands set to host fie of their home fixtures. The stadium will also host the SA20 final on Sunday, 25 January 2026, where the next champions will be crowned.
“This summer is a clear demonstration of our commitment to delivering top-tier cricket experiences in Cape Town,” added Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) CEO Corrie van Zyl. “From the Women’s series through to the SA20, we are focused on creating an unforgettable atmosphere for players and fans alike. With stadium upgrades underway for the 2027 World Cup, we are ensuring Newlands remains a world-class venue.”
As the venue undergoes a stunning revamp in preparation for the 2027 Cricket World Cup, its iconic setting, framed by the majestic Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak, continue to make it one of the world’s most picturesque cricket grounds.
Fans can look forward to an action-packed summer of world-class cricket and vibrant matchday experiences as international cricket returns to Cape Town’s historic home of the game.
