MOORE REFLECTS ON HIS GREEN CAP GLORY AS EXCELLENCE IN PERFORMANCE CAPS RETURN FOR 25/26 T20 CHALLENGE

Thursday, 13 November 2025

JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) is proud to announce the return of the Excellence in Performance Caps for the 2025/26 T20 Challenge and Hollywoodbets Pro20.

The Excellence in Performance Caps are awarded to the Top Run-Scorer (TRS – Green Cap) and Top Wicket-Taker (TWT – Yellow Cap) during the two competitions.

Launched last season, the initiative aligns with CSA’s strategic pillar of excellence, and aims to spotlight consistent performance and skill throughout the competition.

The green and yellow caps form part of a recognition system designed to celebrate, and motivate players for outstanding individual achievements in batting and bowling.

Beyond recognition, the initiative seeks to promote sustained excellence and foster a healthy competitive spirit within teams by rewarding statistical performance and celebrating players who deliver at the highest level of domestic T20 cricket.

Among last season’s standout performers was World Sports Betting Western Province batter, Edward Moore, who spent weeks on the leaderboard in the 2024/25 campaign as the leading run-scorer and proudly wore the Green Cap.

“It was a proud moment for me last season because I feel like I’ve had to prove a lot to be wearing that cap. If I can back that up and go back-to-back, that would definitely be making a statement. It’s one of my goals for sure, especially as I still have ambitions to play in the Betway SA20 and other leagues around the world,” said Moore

“I’ve put a lot of focus on my T20 skills and mindset. I wanted to show people that I can play this format too, and that I’m actually an aggressive batsman. The Western Province setup encourages an exciting and expansive brand of cricket, which suits my game really well.”

Moore comes into this this round of the T20 Challenge after a blitzkrieg century against the Momentum Multiply Titans on Sunday.

“It was awesome to meet a few in the middle and get to that century. T20 hundreds don’t happen often, so it was special to be the first one this year. The performance against the Titans meant a lot to us as a team.

“They’ve been one of the strongest white-ball setups over the past few seasons, so to get over the line convincingly was a big statement,” Moore concluded.

With the Excellence in Performance Caps, CSA hopes to continue celebrating players who embody the spirit of excellence, consistency, and the passion that define South African cricket.
