Johannesburg: The DP World Wanderers Stadium, warmly welcomed a capacity crowd for the epic 15th edition of Pink Day.
The powerful annual initiative where the Proteas Men’s team don pink in support of breast cancer awareness, raising both awareness and vital funds for the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital Breast Care Clinic, was truly a memorable and energetic experience for players and fans alike.
Celebrating the unbreakable human spirit in the fight against breast cancer, the DP World Wanderers Stadium and Cricket South Africa’s crew had curated a jam-packed evening. From the coin toss to the final ball, there was explosive entertainment and exciting fan surprises throughout including two visually striking aeroplane flypasts; interactive competitions; incredible music and exclusive prizes.
Further elevating the occasion was the Pride’s partners, who stepped up in a big way, says Lions Cricket CEO Jono Leaf-Wright:
“This Pride has partners who wholeheartedly stride forth with us— always going above and beyond, far exceeding our expectations and their commitments to Lions Cricket. THANK YOU to Dafabet (R200 000); DP World (R100 000); Masana Energy Solutions (R75 000); Enza Construction (R50 000) and Fourways Group/Alliance (R50 000) to name but a few. Your commitment to the cause is astonishing and deeply appreciated. To our fans who pitched up in pink: We are who we are, because of you – Thank you for embracing this initiative with such warmth, energy and generosity.”
“These meaningful contributions will change lives beyond what we could have imagined, proving the power of sport to unite communities, amplify meaningful causes and create unforgettable experiences. Lions Cricket is truly humbled by the generosity and commitment of our partners, players and fans,” concluded Leaf-Wright.
