INDIA A TAKE UNASSAILABLE 2-0 SERIES LEAD

Monday, 17 November 2025

RAJKOT: Lhuan-dré Pretorius, Rivaldo Moonsamy, Dian Forrester and Delano Potgieter all got starts but failed to kick on as South Africa A suffered a nine-wicket loss against India A in game two of their three-match One-Day Series in Rajkot on Sunday.

The tourists, who lost the opening match by four wickets on Thursday, struggled with the bat in this second outing when they were bowled out for just 132 in 30.3 overs at the Niranjan Shah Stadium..

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who struck a century in the first game, was again instrumental, hitting an unbeaten 68 (83 balls, 9 fours) to see his side to victory with more than 22 overs to spare.

The result helped the hosts win the series with a game to spare.

For the South Africans, it was a disappointing performance after they did so well in the first game where they recovered to score nearly 300.

This time openers Pretorius (21) and Moonsamy (33) got fair starts at the top of the order, as the hosts reached 59 for one in the 11th over.

But they were then undone by Nishant Sindhu (4/16) and Harshit Rana (3/21), losing their remaining nine wickets for 73.

Forrester and Potgieter, two of the heroes from the previous game, scored 22 and 23 respectively, though there was no other support and the away side were dismissed with 19.3 overs still in the bag.

Then in reply, Gaikwad and fellow opener Abhishek Sharma (32) put on 53 together at the top of the order, before Lutho Sipamla (1/33) struck.

But from there it was all India as captain Tilak Varma (29*) and the in-form Gaikwad added an unbroken 82 to lead their side to victory with 133 deliveries to spare.
