CSA Pathway Awards 2024/25: Where Greatness Is Born

JOHANNESBURG: In a year marked by exceptional talent and promising performances, Cricket South Africa (CSA) is set to honour the country’s future stars at the CSA Pathway Awards, taking place on 31 July at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg. The event will highlight top-performing schoolboy and schoolgirl cricketers, as well as individuals involved in CSA’s broader development programmes. Coaches, scorers, and others involved in the cricket development pathway will also be acknowledged for their efforts over the past year. At the grassroots level, the KFC Mini-Cricket programme continues to play a central role. Awards will be presented to the Coach of the Year and Coordinator of the Year, acknowledging the volunteer coaches and coordinators who have made a consistent contribution in their regions. Additionally, the KFC Bucket Loads of Good award will recognise an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to the long-standing Mini-Cricket programme, reflecting CSA and KFC’s appreciation for community heroes. A commitment to inclusivity in cricket is evident in its continued support for a wide range of initiatives. These include the Regional Performance Centres & Hubs programme, along with support for the ancillaries, including Blind, Deaf and Intellectually Impaired Cricket, as well as Learners with Special Education Needs. The Pathway Awards will honour top performers from these initiatives, as well as award the CSA Scorers’ Association of the Year, the Groundsman of the Year, and the top performers in various tournaments, including rural cricket, veterans cricket, SA Forces, and the CSA Community Cup. This year’s ceremony will include the first-ever awards for the Schools SA20 Boys and Girls Player of the Tournament, following the inaugural Schools SA20 competition. There will also be recognition for performances at the 2024/25 National Youth Weeks, including the U16 Boys Week, Khaya Majola Week, and the U16 and U19 Girls Weeks. The Pathway Awards breakfast will culminate in the announcement of the CSA U19 Men’s Player of the Year, Student Cricketer of the Year, Women’s Provincial Player of the Year and Men’s and Women’s Domestic Newcomer of the Season. CSA Executive: Domestic Cricket, Edward Khoza commented: “The Pathway Awards are about more than just celebrating performances on the field. They’re about shining a light on the hard work, time, and passion that so many people put into developing cricket in South Africa. From coaches and coordinators to scorers and volunteers, each of them plays a vital role in helping young cricketers take their first steps in the game. “We congratulate all the nominees and those who will be recognised at the breakfast. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. And to the players, let these honours be a step along the way, keep pushing forward, keep striving, and keep growing in the game.” Attached is the complete list of nominees for the CSA Pathway Awards 2024/25. Annual KFC Mini-Cricket National Seminar To Honour Volunteer Coaches

JOHANNESBURG: Each year, Cricket South Africa (CSA), in partnership with KFC, proudly recognises the passionate individuals who dedicate their time and energy to supporting the 119 926 children who actively engage in the KFC Mini-Cricket programme; a platform that promotes physical activity, social connection, and a love for the game. This commitment is honoured at the annual KFC Mini-Cricket National Seminar, where over 200 delegates convene to celebrate a shared purpose that inspires the next generation through the power of cricket. Taking place this year from 29 June to 2 July 2025, the seminar will shine a spotlight on the 10 090 dedicated volunteer coaches who form the backbone of the Mini-Cricket programme, while also setting the strategic direction for the season ahead. Building on the foundation laid by last year’s theme,”Building for the Future,” this year’s seminar reinforces CSA’s ongoing commitment to growth, inclusivity, and excellence in grassroots cricket. It is both a tribute to the achievements of the past and a bold step toward a future shaped by passion, purpose, and partnership. CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki, said; “CSA is once again thrilled to host the KFC Mini-Cricket National Seminar, a key highlight in our annual social calendar. This year’s seminar serves not only as a celebration of the season’s successes, but also as an opportunity to honour the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to grow the game at grassroots level, inspire young cricketers, and ensure that every engagement is both memorable and meaningful for all involved. “The KFC Mini-Cricket programme is the largest national grassroots sports initiative in the country, and without the active involvement and contributions of our volunteer coaches as well as our ongoing partner, KFC, we would not be able to deliver the product we do today. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for their dedication and commitment.” KFC Head of Corporate Affairs, Andra Nel, shared her thoughts ahead of the new season stating, “KFC is excited to kick off a new season of KFC Mini-Cricket and to gather at the National Seminar with our dedicated volunteer coaches. This programme is more than just a game—it’s a platform for unlocking potential, nurturing confidence, and creating opportunities for young South Africans to thrive. Together with Cricket South Africa, we remain committed to empowering the leaders of tomorrow, both on the field and in their communities.” For more information on the KFC Mini-Cricket programme, visit the website:https://purpose.kfc.co.za/mini-cricket/ ENDS For Media enquiries, please contact: Kirsty du Toit – Corporate Communications ManagerCell: +27 (0) 82 888 2520Email: kirstyt@cricket.co.za Issued by: Cricket South Africa – Corporate Communications ABOUT CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA Cricket South Africa (CSA), an affiliate of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) and a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC), is the national governing body for the sport of cricket in South Africa and administers all aspects of South African cricket, men, and women, both in the professional and amateur sphere.ABOUT KFC KFC has been the title sponsor of the programme since 2009 and will remain the sponsor until 2025.
