Annual KFC Mini-Cricket National Seminar To Honour Volunteer Coaches

JOHANNESBURG: Each year, Cricket South Africa (CSA), in partnership with KFC, proudly recognises the passionate individuals who dedicate their time and energy to supporting the 119 926 children who actively engage in the KFC Mini-Cricket programme; a platform that promotes physical activity, social connection, and a love for the game. This commitment is honoured at the annual KFC Mini-Cricket National Seminar, where over 200 delegates convene to celebrate a shared purpose that inspires the next generation through the power of cricket. Taking place this year from 29 June to 2 July 2025, the seminar will shine a spotlight on the 10 090 dedicated volunteer coaches who form the backbone of the Mini-Cricket programme, while also setting the strategic direction for the season ahead. Building on the foundation laid by last year’s theme,”Building for the Future,” this year’s seminar reinforces CSA’s ongoing commitment to growth, inclusivity, and excellence in grassroots cricket. It is both a tribute to the achievements of the past and a bold step toward a future shaped by passion, purpose, and partnership. CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki, said; “CSA is once again thrilled to host the KFC Mini-Cricket National Seminar, a key highlight in our annual social calendar. This year’s seminar serves not only as a celebration of the season’s successes, but also as an opportunity to honour the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to grow the game at grassroots level, inspire young cricketers, and ensure that every engagement is both memorable and meaningful for all involved. “The KFC Mini-Cricket programme is the largest national grassroots sports initiative in the country, and without the active involvement and contributions of our volunteer coaches as well as our ongoing partner, KFC, we would not be able to deliver the product we do today. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for their dedication and commitment.” KFC Head of Corporate Affairs, Andra Nel, shared her thoughts ahead of the new season stating, “KFC is excited to kick off a new season of KFC Mini-Cricket and to gather at the National Seminar with our dedicated volunteer coaches. This programme is more than just a game—it’s a platform for unlocking potential, nurturing confidence, and creating opportunities for young South Africans to thrive. Together with Cricket South Africa, we remain committed to empowering the leaders of tomorrow, both on the field and in their communities.” For more information on the KFC Mini-Cricket programme, visit the website:https://purpose.kfc.co.za/mini-cricket/ ENDS For Media enquiries, please contact: Kirsty du Toit – Corporate Communications ManagerCell: +27 (0) 82 888 2520Email: kirstyt@cricket.co.za Issued by: Cricket South Africa – Corporate Communications ABOUT CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA Cricket South Africa (CSA), an affiliate of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) and a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC), is the national governing body for the sport of cricket in South Africa and administers all aspects of South African cricket, men, and women, both in the professional and amateur sphere.ABOUT KFC KFC has been the title sponsor of the programme since 2009 and will remain the sponsor until 2025. CSA Women In Cricket Dialogue Spurs Powerful Conversations In Podcast Series

JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) brought together the past, present and future of the women’s game in a powerful gathering at the inaugural Women in Cricket Dialogue on 30 May. The full-day event combined compelling panel discussions with live podcast storytelling to chart a transformative future for women’s cricket. The forum, hosted in Melrose Arch, was anchored by three insightful panel sessions exploring the evolution, commercial potential, and long-term vision for women’s cricket. Voices from across the cricketing spectrum, including trailblazing former national players, current Proteas stars, administrators, commercial partners and industry experts, shared candid reflections and forward-thinking strategies. In a first for a CSA event of this nature, a dedicated podcast booth hosted by broadcasters Nono Pongolo and Philasande Sixaba captured real-time thoughts, personal stories, and behind-the-scenes insights from speakers and attendees. These moments have been curated into a special Women in Cricket podcast series, offering a lasting platform for voices that continue to shape the game. The Women in Cricket Podcast Series is available on Cricket South Africa’s YouTube channel, featuring the following episodes: Catch up with Linda Olivier and Dinesha Devanarain Chatting to Claire Terblanche and Nolubabalo Ndzundzu The Future of Women’s Cricket – Edward Khoza and Grant Van Velden In conversation with Nwabisa Sauls and Megan MacDonald Catch up with Laura Wolvaardt & Sune Luus Proteas Women’s captain, Laura Wolvaardt, shared her reflections on the event: “A productive day. We spent a few good hours just talking about women’s cricket, and I think the most impactful part was hearing from the past players. Just hearing the struggles they had to go through when they played, and to see how far the game has come in the last 10-20 years.” CSA Executive for Domestic Cricket, Edward Khoza, who delivered a keynote during the “Future of Women’s Cricket” panel, also commented: “Today was one of those occasions where I normally call it a positive day’s experience. Especially when we reflect and have the former players in the room that played women’s cricket when it was unfancied, sitting in the presence of the up and coming and as well as current Proteas players. It was quite a humbling experience because the journey that they’ve walked in is completely different. “Our job is one of trying to look at where things are at this point and try to earmark where the future is going. We have made some serious strides.” ENDS Issued by: Cricket South Africa – Corporate Communications
