JOHANNESBURG: This Sunday’s action of the Hollywoodbets Pro Series delivered more victories for Garden Route Badgers and North West Dragons, this time in the Hollywoodbets Pro20, whilst DP World Lions and the Fidelity Titans shared the spoils in the Highveld.
The DP World Lions Women and Fidelity Titans Ladies encounter was called off due to inclement weather in Johannesburg with only 12 overs played.
After being sent in, the Titans were led by a fluent innings from Lizelle Lee, who struck 57 off 42 deliveries, anchoring the innings with trademark authority.
Tebogo Macheke (17* off 33 balls) provided steady support, while Anneke Bosch remained unbeaten on 1 as the Titans reached 81/1 in just 12.3 overs before play was abandoned.
In Oudtshoorn, a low-scoring contest saw the Garden Route Badgers Women edge past the Hollywoodbets Dolphins Ladies by just two runs in a shortened nine-over encounter.
Batting first, the Badgers showed composure through Izel Cilliers (31* off 22) and Julia Hoal (23* off 20), who guided their side to a competitive 65/2.
Nobulumko Baneti (1/13) and Zintle Mali (1/13) kept the Badgers scoring in check with a disciplined bowling effort.
Dolphins mounted a strong challenge, led by E J V Rensburg’s 27* off 21 balls and a brisk 24 from Asakhe Nyovane but it was not enough and suffered the narrow defeat.
Meanwhile, a composed chase saw the North West Dragons Women claim a six-wicket win over World Sports Betting Western Province Women in a full 20-over contest.
Western Province posted a competitive 127/6 thanks to a well-crafted 63 off 53 balls from Kelsey Adams. Delmari Tucker (15 off 13) and Tatum Le Roux (15* off 12) added useful contributions, while the Dragons’ bowling effort was led by Alyssa Erxleben (2/12) and Nthabiseng Nini (2/25).
The Dragons’ response was anchored by a calm and experienced knock from Mignon du Preez, who finished unbeaten on 50 off 58 balls. She found strong support from Lizri de Villiers (37 off 24) and Erxleben (17 off 14) as the visitors paced their chase expertly to reach the target with one delivery to spare.
