WESTERN PROVINCE, ROCKS & HEAT SET THE TONE ON DAY 1 OF THE CSA 4-DAY SERIES

JOHANNESBURG: The Cricket South Africa (CSA) Four-Day Domestic Series action continues, with five matches taking place across Division One and Division Two teams from 10-13 November 2022. All matches are streamed live on the CSA YouTube page and ball-by-ball action is available on the CSA App.

In Paarl, Janneman Malan struck 132 runs from 207 balls to help the Gbets Rocks set a competitive lead against the Dafabet Warriors. Malan had the support of Stiaan van Zyl who recorded a run-a-ball 91 as Rocks were bowled out with 332 runs.

Glenton Stuurman registered a five-wicket haul for the visitors, including the dismissal of Malan.

Beuran Hendricks grabbed two quick wickets to dismiss Dean Elgar and Sibonelo Makhanya for none and the Momentum Multiply Titans went to stumps on 1 /2 at SuperSport Park. Earlier, half centuries from Kyle Verreynne (87) and Mihlali Mpongwana (77) helped guide the Six Gun Grill Western Province to a first innings score of 328/10.

Meanwhile, the North West Dragons were on 94/1 when rain stopped play in Bloemfontein. The ITEC Knights had opted to bowl first when Gerald Coetzee’s first ball dismissed opener, Wesley Marshall without any runs. Grant Mokoena (78*), anchored the innings with the support of Shaylen Pillay.

In Division 2, the Northern Cape will look to continue from where they left off this past weekend as they take on Eastern Cape Iinyathi in Kimberly. Rivaldo Moonsamy powered an unbeaten ton of 138* and a half century from Ernest Kemm (56) saw the Heat end the day on 242/3.

In Polokwane, Limpopo Impalas are currently on 87/5, trailing the Mpumalanga Rhinos by 143 runs.

Alexander Kok (77) and Rubin Hermann (65) played crucial knocks as Rhinos were bowled out with 230 runs.

Impala’s Zakhele Qwabe led the bowling attack with five-wickets under his name at the end of the innings.
