South Africa head coach Ottis Gibson is confident Kagiso Rabada and Dale Steyn will be fit in time for the 2019 World Cup opener.
Talking to the press in Cape Town this week, Gibson revealed that the fast bowling pair are on track to make the World Cup opener against the hosts at The Oval on May 30, despite injury concerns.
The 15-man squad are set to assemble in Pretoria following a two-day team building camp in the Mother City, before their departure to England on Sunday where they hope to win the country's first cricket World Cup title.
Steyn has been battling a shoulder injury while Rabada suffered a back problem at the recent concluded Indian Premier League (IPL), where he finished second on the bowling charts.
Gibson, though, has eased worries surrounding the duo's fitness, stating that they will be ready to take on the Three Lions.
"There was an issue with KG (Rabada) and there was an issue with Dale, but we feel that those guys are on track," Gibson told the media.
"There is nothing that people should be alarmed about. We feel that they're going to make full recoveries and be able to take their place at the World Cup."
