08 Apr TUSKERS AND HEAT READY FOR THE CSA ONE-DAY CUP FINAL
PIETERMARITZBURG: The Division Two CSA One-Day Cup final is set to take place tomorrow, Friday, 08 April 2022 at 10h00.
The Hollywoodbets Tuskers will take on the Northern Cape Heat at the Pietermaritzburg Oval.
Tuskers top the log as the only undefeated side in Division 2 in the competition whilst the Heat claimed an impressive victory on Sunday to qualify for the final.
Heat are the reigning champions of the Division Two Four-Day Series, after claiming the title in March, but Tuskers will be looking for their first silverware this season.
With the final being the last game of the season, the two team captains shared their plans going into the final, reflected on the season that has been and how the preparations will continue going into the off-season period.
Hollywoodbets Tuskers Captain, Michael Erlank, said; “Our plan will remain the same. We have prepared well throughout the season, and we are starting to see the results of all the hard work.
“Winning this tournament will be a huge accomplishment. Not only for the players but also the management staff, the union, and all its staff members. The win would go a long way in growing the Tuskers brand in Pietermaritzburg and giving our supporters something to cheer about.
“Going into the off-season will provide a much-needed break for us. And for some, an opportunity to play cricket overseas. It will be a time to reflect on the season we had and slowly start planning on how we are going to take on the next season and try to improve on what we have set-up this season,” concluded Erlank.
Northern Cape Heat captain, Aubrey Swanepoel, said; “We have played good cricket throughout the year, and we are happy with how things have turned out this season. I believe that what we have match winning players, but a good team performance in the final will give us a better chance of winning it.
“A win would be great for the team as we had a successful season, and another trophy would be good for us. Double winners do not come around very often, but we are hoping to get the business done.
“We will have a break before the physical and conditioning starts. We have loads planned for the off season as we hope to continue developing the squad to move to the next level. We sowed this season, and next year we want to yield even better results so we can move to the next level,” Swanepoel concluded.
The Division Two CSA One-Day Cup final will be live on the SuperSport YouTube Channel and the ball-by-ball action will be available on the CSA App.
