
29 Oct SHANGASE SPARKLED ON FINAL DAY OF CSA WOMEN’S PROVINCIAL TOURNAMENT
JOHANNESBURG: Momentum Proteas rising talent, Nondumiso Shangase proved she is more than capable with the bat when she recorded an unbeaten century in the Hollywoodbets Kwa-Zulu Natal Coastal Women’s win on the final day of the CSA Women’s One-Day Provincial tournament taking place at St Stithian’s College on Thursday.
Shangase scored 104 not out off 132 deliveries as she helped the KZN Coastal side post a daunting 287/4 after 50 overs, with her national teammate Chloe Tryon (57 off 44 balls) and Courtney Leigh Gounden (59 off 87 balls) also contributing heavily.
In their chase, the Easterns Women could only manage to notch up 173 all out after 44.5 overs, with Jade de Figueiredo picking up outstanding figures of five for 31 as KZN clinched a convincing 114-run triumph to end their tournament on a high.
The Imperial Lions also finished the competition on a positive note when they outshone the Six Gun Grill Western Province Women to seal a convincing 53-run victory after they posted 209/9 before dismissing the WP batters for 156.
In the other clash of the final day, Tasmin Brits smashed her way to a second century of the week, scoring 114* off 73 balls to guide Senwes Dragons Women to a comfortable five-wicket win over the Titans Women.
