16 Oct SA U19 Women Star In Latest Round Of The CSA Professional Domestic Women’s League
JOHANNESBURG: The Cricket South Africa (CSA) Professional Domestic Women’s League is in full swing and months after the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, South Africa U19 Women have geared up for their local teams in the league.
In Cape Town, Recon Tactical Free State claimed a five-wicket win against Western Province in the CSA Women’s 1 Day Cup at Newlands on Saturday.
The hosts opted to bat first as the batting order struggled to come up against Free State’s attack. It was a half century from Saarah Smith (84) and additional runs from Faye Tunnicliffe (33) that helped Western Province end the innings on 195 all out.
*Elandri Janse van Rensburg (3/21), Yolandi Potgieter (3/27), and Mampe Ntsane (2/23) spearheaded the attack that collapsed the Western Province lineup.
Free State batters set a comfortable chase to claim victory by five wickets. Skipper, Zintle Kula led from the front with an unbeaten 42*, backed by *Miane Smit (41) , Mignon van der Merwe (41), and Verunissa Reddy (33) to reach the target with six overs to spare.
Smith backed her performance with bat by claiming two scalps with teammate, *Kayla Reyneke (2/24) and a single scalp from *Caitlin Wyngaard, Free State ended the innings on 196/5.
