03 Jan SA U19 Women Searching For A Breakthrough In Their T20 Series Against India
JOHANNESBURG: South Africa U19 Women went head-to-head with India U19 Women in match four of the five-match T20 series.
Captain, Oluhle Siyo, won the toss and elected to bat first with the hosts playing their 20 overs to set the target to 87 runs for India.
Kayla Reyneke was the main contributor, scoring 18 runs off 36 balls alongside Elandri Van Rensburg (17 off 15) and Oluhle Siyo departing for 16 off 24. India dominated the game to restrict South Africa from scoring more runs.
The umpires stopped play in the last over due to bad thunderstorms, which quickly passed and SA were able to conclude their innings.
India’s opening duo created a solid partnership making it difficult to break. Shafali Verma was the highest scorer of the match with 29 runs off 27 deliveries.
South Africa fought to defend their score as Seshnie Naidu led the bowling attack with a spell of 3/14. Ayanda Hlubi ended on 1/10 and Refilwe Moncho on 1/20.
India gathered their winning score in the 15th over, securing another win by four wickets.
With two of the fixtures abandoned due to rain, both teams have decided to utilize the rest day on 03 January 2023 to play another match which will be followed by the final match on 04 January 2023.
