02 Nov ROCKS AND KNIGHTS THROUGH TO THE T20 CHALLENGE SEMI-FINALS
POTCHEFSTROOM: The Gbets Rocks and ITEC Knights are through to the Cricket South Africa (CSA) T20 Challenge semi-finals despite the results in the final round robin matches.
The ITEC Knights lost their encounter against the North West Dragons whilst Gbets Rocks and DP World Lions’ match was abandoned without a ball bowled. The Lions needed a bonus point win against the Rocks to go above the Knights and secure a spot in the semis.
Earlier, the Dragons claimed a 22-run win against the Knights. The latter opted to field first as the Dragons skipper, Heino Kuhn steadied a 50 off 47 balls. Dragons’ duo, Duan Jansen (39 off 15) and Delano Potgieter (18*) shared a 53-run partnership to help the Dragons set the target on 155.
Gerald Coetzee (2/24 in four overs) claimed the crucial wickets of both Kuhn and Jansen.
Another destructive duo in the Dragons set up was bowler of the match, Caleb Seleka (3/13) and Renaldo Meyer (3/26) in their four overs.
The Knights were bowled out for 132 in less than 17 overs with Migael Pretorius smashing a 36 off 15 in the final overs. Other contributions in the double digits were from Pite van Biljon (27), and Jacques Snyman (25).
