Mashishi, Vezi, And Tucker Shine With The Ball On Saturday

JOHANNESBURG: Fidelity Titans’ Paulinah Mashishi delivered a stellar performance with the ball in their clash against Hollywoodbets Dolphins as Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) Professional Domestic Women’s League continued on Saturday.

Titans had won the toss to put their opponents to the bat first. Mashishi returned 4/27 in her 10 overs, backed by two scalps from Eliz-Mari Marx and everyone chipped in to restrict Dolphins to 152/10.

Alexandre Candler’s half century (50) anchored the visitor’s innings, and notable support came from Nicole de Klerk with 24 runs.

Titans made an easy chase in their response with skipper, Robyn Searle, securing a half century (55) and Katherine Prior (31) putting up crucial runs upfront.

Anneke Bosch (49*) and Masabata Klaas (15*) took the innings home to secure an eight-wicket victory for the Titans.

In Johannesburg, DP World Lions were put to the bat first by Western Province. The hosts posted 192/10 thanks to a half century from Nonkululeko Thabethe (73) which solidified the innings.

Nosipho Vezi (4/37), and Delmi Tucker (4/51) were the most destructive pair for the visitors, and their four-wicket hauls ensured the hosts are restricted to a chasable target.

Openers, Babette Leede (44), and Andrie Steyn (68) were solid upfront in providing the needed runs, and Saarah Smith (31*) with Nadine de Klerk (39*) took to the target, securing an eight-wicket for Western Province.

The Eastern Cape derby in Division 2 saw Eastern Province claim a 161-run victory against Border in East London. An all-round batting effort from EP saw them post 247/6 in their allotted 50 overs, this includes an unbeaten 96* from captain, Jana Nell.
