14 Oct KLAASTE JOINS THE INTERNATIONAL PANEL OF ICC DEVELOPMENT UMPIRES
JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) congratulated female umpire, Kerrin Klaaste, on her appointment to the International Panel of International Cricket Council (ICC) Development Umpires.
Klaaste is the second female South African on the panel. With her appointment, she joins 59 umpires from across the globe, including fellow country-woman, Lauren Agenbag.
Klaaste’s love for the game started as a young player in the Northern Cape which saw her passion flowing through the other avenues of the game before she moved to the South Western Districts in Oudtshoorn.
She has also made her mark in Oudtshoorn, breaking the ceiling as the first female to officiate the unions’ provincial club finals.
She has recently stood the Varsity Cricket 2022 tournament in Pretoria, officiating five matches, including the final.
CSA Director of Cricket, Enoch Nkwe, congratulated Klaaste on her recent achievement:
“Congratulations go out to umpire, Kerrin Klaaste, on a well-deserved appointment.
“This is a very important year in women’s cricket in the country as we look forward to hosting the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023. An opportunity for us to continue creating the opportunities for women’s development in the sport.
“Klaaste has been in the CSA pipeline for a long period of time and seeing her advancing to greater heights through the ranks assures us that our Talent Identification Programme (TAP) is on the right path,” said Nkwe.
