05 Aug KFC Mini-Cricket Provincial Seminars Kick-Off With A Vision For The Future
JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) is thrilled to announce the commencement of the KFC Mini-Cricket Provincial Seminars, starting with Mpumalanga on Saturday, 03 August 2024.
Following the success of the KFC Mini-Cricket National Seminar held in July, the strategic plan for the upcoming year will be rolled out to all CSA affiliates, under the strategic theme, ‘Building Together for a Better Future.’
The strategy presented at the national seminar aims to enhance the KFC Mini-Cricket program’s impact, focusing on access, inclusivity, and skill development. Which in turn, emphasizes the importance of collaboration in developing young cricket talent across the country.
This year has been notable for South African cricket on multiple fronts. With the first professional season for women’s cricket concluded, the Proteas Women’s team gears up for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in October 2024, a historic milestone that highlights the growing prominence of women’s cricket in the country. Meanwhile, for the first time in history, the Proteas Men’s team reached the World Cup final at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. These significant achievements underscore the importance of nurturing cricket talent from a young age.
CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki, commented;
“Cricket has always been more than just a game in South Africa; it’s a means to bring communities together and inspire the next generation.
“The KFC Mini-Cricket Provincial Seminars are a crucial part of our mission to build a stronger, more inclusive cricketing future. This year’s theme reflects our commitment to working collectively towards this goal.
“As the seminars roll out across the country, CSA is excited to see the positive impact of the new strategies and looks forward to the continued growth and success of KFC Mini-Cricket. Each provincial seminar will build on the foundation set at the national level, ensuring that every region contributes to the collective vision of ‘Building Together for a Better Future,’ said Moseki.

KFC Mini-Cricket is South Africa’s biggest grassroots development sports programme and forms a critical foundation step in the development of South Africa’s future cricketing heroes and is the first step in Cricket South Africa’s ‘pipeline to the Proteas.’ The programme instils belief in kids that anything is possible to achieve regardless of any societal barriers that may exist.
