03 Jan India U19 Women Take A 3-0 Lead In The T20 Series
JOHANNESBURG: South Africa U19 Women continue their quest to register a win in the added match against India U19 Women as the two teams prepare for the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first and maintained their opening batters longer in the crease as aimed to register a higher score.
Seshnie Naidu gave South Africa a step forward taking the first wicket bowling Shehrawat out, taking control of the innings between the 9th and 10th over wrapping up her spell on (2/29). Jemma Botha and Kayla Reyneke finished their overs on (1/15) and (1/11) respectively.
A stellar performance from Karabo Meso behind the stumps dismissing three of India’s batters. India set up a score of 121/6 at the end of the their allotted 20 overs.
The opponents took charge of their bowling, leading to an early wicket against South Africa and taking the team down four wickets before powerplay.
Kayla Reyneke cracked a (14 off 23) prior to being caught by India’s Titus Sadhu. Jemma Botha gave a decent fight securing a score of 11(27) and Ayanda Hlubi conveyed (12 off 19) bringing South Africa to being restricted to 61/10 after 19 overs. India won by a massive 60 runs .
Both teams face each other for the last series match on 04 January 2023 at Steyn City, before commencing their ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign in 11 days.
South Africa and India are set to lock horns again for the World Cup at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on 14 January 2023.
