Hollywoodbets Pro Series Weekend Wrap: Western Province And Dolphins Dominate

OUDTSHOORN: This weekend saw the second round of matches in the Hollywoodbets Pro Series; Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers were hosts to Hollywoodbets Dolphins at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn, whilst World Sports Betting Western Province took on Knights at the WSB Newlands in Cape Town.

In the Hollywoodbets Pro50 on Saturday, Western Province secured a solid 64-run victory over the Knights.

After being sent in to bat, Province posted 210 all out, with standout performances from Babette de Leede (69), Yandiswa Mangele (40), and Caitlyn Wyngaard (29).

Knights’ Elandri Janse van Rensburg and Lucian Swarts each took two wickets for the visitors.

In reply, the Knights were bundled out for 146, as Nosipho Vezi led the bowling attack with 3/25. Support came from Jemma Botha, Faye Tunnicliffe, and Leah Jones, who claimed two wickets apiece to secure the win for Western Province.

Meanwhile, Dolphins earned a three-wicket win against the Badgers after opting to bowl first.

Badgers were restricted to 157 all out, with Micaela Andrews contributing an unbeaten 50* and Asakhe Nyovane adding 47 runs.

Nondumiso Shangase (3/20) and Nobulumko Baneti (2/26) starred with the ball for the Dolphins.

In response, the Dolphins chased down the target in just under 35 overs, finishing on 161/7. Key contributions came from Alexandra Candler (43), Asamkele Kawu (29), and Zintle Mali (22*).

Despite a valiant five-wicket haul (5/28) from Nicolien Janse van Rensburg, the Badgers couldn’t defend their total.

The action continued with the Hollywoodbets Pro20 on Sunday, as Western Province continued their winning ways, defeating the Knights by 33 runs in the T20 format.

Batting first, Province set a competitive 150/6, thanks to Lara Goodall’s 48 and a solid knock from Kelsey Adams.

The Knights struggled in their chase, managing only 117/6. Jemma Botha was the standout bowler for WP, taking 3/18 in her four overs, while Luyanda Nzuza top-scored for the Knights with 33 runs.

The Dolphins also completed a dominant weekend, winning the Pro20 match by 53 runs. After electing to bat, the Dolphins posted 148/3, with Candler (55*), Nondumiso Shangase (48), and Nobuhle Busane (37) leading the charge.

The Badgers were held to 95/7 in their 20 overs, with Jane Nell’s 38 being the top score. Zintle Mali was instrumental with the ball for the Dolphins, taking two wickets and everyone chipped in to secure the win.

The Hollywoodbets Pro Series continues to deliver exciting cricket action as the teams eye their next round of fixtures.
