Heat Edge Past Knights To Secure T20KO Final Spot

KIMBERLY: The Northern Cape Heat, champions of the Division 2 Cricket South Africa (CSA) 4-Day Series, have once again secured a spot in the final, this time in the CSA T20 Knockout, following a tense encounter against the ITEC Knights in Kimberly on Thursday.

Opting to bat first, the Heat’s batting lineup, led by Jonathan Vandiar’s solid 56 and CP Klijhans’ 46, laid a strong foundation.

Hanu Viljoen’s unbeaten 25 and Grant Thompson’s 22, along with a crucial 19 from Modiri Litheko, bolstered the innings, culminating in a total of 186/5.

Jacques Snyman was the most successful bowler for the Knights, with a disciplined spell of 2/20 in four overs.

Facing a target of 187, Tshepo Ntuli, Ernest Kemm, and Basheer Walters spearheaded the Heat’s bowling attack, each claiming two wickets to restrict the Knights to 182/9.

Despite a spirited effort from the Knights, with Isaac Dikgale’s notable 43, supported by contributions from Patrick Botha (33) and Dian Forrester (25), the Heat secured a narrow four-run win, securing their place in the final.

The Heat will now face Limpopo Impalas on Sunday, 07 April 2024 at 13h00 in Polokwane.
