Excitement As Tickets Open For The India Inbound Tour

JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa is pleased to announce that ticket sales for the much-anticipated India tour will open on Monday, 25 September 2023.

The multi-format encounter between India and the Proteas is set to take place from the 10th of December to the 7th of January across multiple venues. It features three KFC T20 Internationals (T20Is), three Betway One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Betway Tests.

The Betway ODI Series will begin on Sunday the 17th of December and will be headlined by the popular Betway Pink Day, a breast cancer charity fundraiser which enjoys the support of South Africans eager to contribute towards the fight against the illness. R50 from each ticket sold will go straight into the independent and non-profit Pink ODI Fund.

CSA’s Chief Marketing Officer Wanele Mngomezulu says: “The Pink ODI has not only become a landmark fixture but a crucial platform in our commitment to drive breast cancer awareness. As we build up to the event it’s imperative for our partners and fans to know that their contributions are managed with the utmost transparency and dedication. We’re looking forward to another impactful year where the vibrant pink at DP World Wanderers signals our collective drive towards making a difference."

Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in the world and the National Cancer Registry estimates that one in every 27 women are at risk of being diagnosed in their lifetime. At the most recent Pink Day ODI against the Netherlands in April, the DP World Wanderers was bathed in a sea of pink with partners and fans pledging just over a million rand to the Pink ODI Fund.

In the past five years the fund has received R4.7-million and in accordance with globally accepted fundraising protocols, a percentage of money raised is allocated for operational and marketing costs in a fully accountable and transparent manner. The fundraiser is managed inhouse by CSA and Central Gauteng Lions (CGL) staff to contain costs, allowing more money to be available for the Fund.

To date R713-thousand has been allocated by the Pink ODI Fund to the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg which has gone towards breast cancer research through the Wits Health Consortium and provision of light refreshments for patients who visit the hospital’s Breast Cancer Unit. The process of disbursing more funds is still underway, contingent on hospital needs and approval by the Governing Board of the Fund.

This tour also features The Freedom Series in honour of two global icons – Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi and gets underway with the Boxing Day Test at SuperSport Park from the 26th to the 30th of December.

The tour will conclude with the New Year’s Test at Newlands Cricket Ground from the 3rd to the 7th of January.

We invite all cricket loving fans to come out in their numbers and fill up stadiums for entertaining, exhilarating, and world-class cricket matches. Tickets will be available from TicketPro outlets or via their website at www.ticketpro.co.za.
