26 Oct EASTERNS STUN TITANS IN RAIN-AFFECTED DAY 3 OF WOMEN’S PROVINCIAL ONE-DAY
JOHANNESBURG: The Easterns Women produced the upset of the week when they defeated the previously unbeaten Titans Women on day three of the CSA Women’s Provincial One-Day tournament in Johannesburg on Monday.
In search of their first win of the competition, Easterns posted a competitive 198/8 after 47 overs, with Lerato Langa (57) and Bernadette Greeff (54) top-scoring with crucial half-centuries.
Their bowlers then collectively dominated their opponents to dismiss the Titans for 160, despite a fighting 60 off 60 balls from Sune Luus, to seal a 21-run victory through Duckworth/Lewis (D/L method) after the target was revised following rain interruptions.
The Hollywoodbets Kwa-Zulu Natal Coastal Women also picked up their first win of the week, clinching a narrow 10-run D/L method triumph over the Imperial Lions, with their Momentum Proteas duo Chloe Tryon (91) and Nonkululeko Mlaba (5/17) stealing the show.
Meanwhile, the Senwes Dragons Women continued their fine form with a convincing 34-run D/L method victory over the Six Gun Grill Western Province Women as the in-form Tazmin Brits’ 72-ball 82 led the way in their successful revised chase.
The CSA Women’s Provincial One-Day action will resume on Wednesday 27, October from 10h00 following a rest day, with the every minute streamed live on Pitch Vision.
