Dolphins Take Charge In Bloemfontein

JOHANNESBURG: The Hollywoodbets Dolphins took charge of Day 2 in the Cricket South Africa (CSA) 4-Day Series after dismissing the ITEC Knights for 165 runs.

Keshav Maharaj led the Dolphins bowling attack, returning a five-wicket haul of 5/62 in 32 overs. With the support of Ottniel Baartman (3/23) and Andile Simelane (2/17) the Knights batting unit scrambled to 165/10 in 78 overs.

The hosts had started well on Day One with opener, Matthew Kleinveldt unbeaten on 40 runs. He departed early on day two, after a few deliveries he was clean bowled by Baartman with 43 runs.

Maharaj then trapped Isaac Dikgale (24) leg-before-wicket and the wickets continued to fall with the other notable contribution in the twenties from Migael Pretorius (29).

Dolphins now lead by 125 runs and will look to tally the runs leading up to day three on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in Johannesburg, Sinethemba Qeshile’s century helped Dafabet Warriors amass a first innings score of 438 all out against the DP World Lions.

Qeshile’s knock (124 off 215) included 19 boundaries and was backed by half centuries from Jordan Herman (71) and Rudi Second (70).

Lutho Sipamla (4/77) grabbed four wickets whilst Wiaan Mulder and Bjorn Fortuin registered two scalps each.

The Lions are currently on 19 without loss after rain interrupted play on Monday afternoon.

Play was called off again on Day 2 without a ball bowled due to a wet outfield in the encounters between Momentum Multiply Titans and Gbets Rocks in Pretoria and North West Dragons and Six Gun Grill Western Province in Potchefstroom, respectively.
