CSA RURAL WEEK INLAND 2022 – DAY 1 RESULTS

POLOKWANE: The first round of the Cricket South Africa Rural Weeks kicked-off yesterday with eight inland teams battling it out in Limpopo.

The first round two rounds of the tournament consist of 50 over games, with Free State and North West rural teams recording the highest scores on Day 1, and Free State’s Kevin Pretorius scoring the first century of the tournament (104 off 122 with 10 fours and 2 sixes).

The hosts, Limpopo won the toss and elected to bat first as they suffered a 6-wicket defeat against KwaZulu-Natal Inland in the Limpopo CC A field.

Limpopo: 93/10 (D. Joubert 28, B. Skade 22 / N. Hewer 3/24, S. Hlatshwayo 2/13).

KZN-Inland: 94/4 (J. Mathews 24, D. Love 20 / B. Skade 1/10, S. D. Joubert 2/30).

In the Limpopo CC B field, the Central Gauteng Lions won the toss and elected to field first as Free State set the target of 310 runs and won the game by 173 runs.

Free State: 309/9 (K. Pretorius 104, F. Van Rooyen 43 / B. Mortje 4/86, E. Bezuidenhout 2/83)

Central Gauteng Lions: 136/10 (D. Dinake 33, H. Warrington 32 / N. Motsoeneng 3/21, S. Prinsloo 3/21)

At Nirvana CC, Mpumalanga took on KZN-Coastal, with the Coastal side winning to toss and electing to field first. Mpumalanga posted a total of 132 runs and KZN-Coastal successfully chased the target, winning the game by 4 wickets.

Mpumalanga: 132/10 (A. Methula 29, J. Scholtz 28 / J. Nel 3/16, R. Van 3/33).

KZN Coastal: 133/6 (R. Van 45*, A. Lombard 42 / S. Neethling 2/42, E. Lombaard 1/15).

In the 4th match of the day, North West took on Northern Cape at Pietersburg High School. North West posted a total of 216 runs in their innings before bowling out Northern Cape for only 45 and winning the game by 171 runs.

North West: 216/7 (E. Schonfeldt 60, A. Louw 40 / L. Setlaba 3/30, L. Malgas 1/26).

Northern Cape: 46/10 (D. Beukes 10, E. Botha 7* / S. Maree 3/4, J. Mathe 3/10).
