04 Nov CSA congratulates schools on achieving Blue Chip status
CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) is pleased to announce and congratulate the 30 schools that have achieved ‘blue chip’ status for the current year.
“The aim of the blue-chip programme is to assess how all our cricket-playing schools are performing in terms of a measurement tool called the schools quality index (SQI),” commented Edward Khoza, CSA’s Acting Manager, Cricket Pathways.
“The intended outcomes of this initiative are quality coaching structures and thus improved player performances; increased number and quality of matches at all levels with the school pipeline; the development of an increased pool of black players; and a sustainable production of quality players in the system.
“The SQI operates at all levels of our school initiatives, whether they are traditional cricket schools, the focus schools programme which consists of schools with excellent facilities but lacking a cricket focus, and the identification and development of schools in disadvantaged areas in partnership with Sport and Recreation South Africa and the Department of Basic Education.
“This latter group is largely driven through our Community Hubs and Standard Bank Regional Performance Centres.
“The end aim is for all schools to be able to improve against the SQI and achieve blue-chip status,” concluded Khoza.
