06 Sep Cele, Hrmann Put SA 2-1 Up V Zimbabwe In Emerging Series
TSHWANE: Okuhle Cele claimed five wickets and Jordan Hermann hit an unbeaten half century to lead South Africa Emerging to a one-sided 10-wicket win over Zimbabwe Emerging in match three of their one-day series in Tshwane on Friday.
Hollywoodbets Dolphins starred during the early part of the game when he claiming half of the wickets of the visiting team to finish with an impeccable five for 23 in seven overs, rolling them over for 129 in 31 overs.
Dafabet Warriors batter Hermann then plundered five sixes and nine fours in an innings of 82 off 62 balls as the hosts cruised to victory in 15.2 overs.
The result put the South Africans 2-1 up, with match four in the five-game series scheduled for Monday.
It was a fine result for coach Malibongwe Maketa and their charges and continued their upward trajectory after they had lost match one last week.
They won the toss and opted to bowl in the latest outing with Cele running riot from the outset.
The 26-year-old removed the Zimbabwean top three – top-scorer Tadiwanashe Marumani (31), Tanunurwa Makoni (1) and Wesley Madhevere (5) – while Siya Plaatjie (1/48) accounted for captain Roy Kaia (1) leaving the total on 41 for four in the eighth over.
Milton Shumba (30) and Clive Madande (22) then put together the most substantial partnership of the innings worth 54 for the fifth wicket, which ended when skipper Mitchell van Buuren ran out the former.
The latter soon became one of two wickets for Andile Mogakane (2/29) as the tail was blown away. Liam Alder (1/4) took the only other available wicket and the visitors were bowled out with 19 overs to spare.
The South African needed less that to complete a comprehensive win as Hermann, supported by Joshua Richards (41* off 35 balls, 3 fours, 1 six), put on an unbroken 130-run partnership to finish the game in just over an hour.
