BREVIS AND SELEKA SHINE IN TITANS-DRAGONS CLASH

POTCHEFSTROOM: The Momentum Multiply Titans have maintained their winning streak in the Cricket South Africa (CSA) T20 Challenge after a five-wicket victory against the North West Dragons on Saturday afternoon.

Former SA U19 youngsters, Dewald Brevis and Caleb Seleka starred on the opposite ends of the clash.

Dragons elected to bat first after winning the toss. Duan Jansen then blasted a 27 ball 41 which included four maximums as the hosts ended their innings on 134/8. Other contributions with the bat were from Lesego Senokwane (34 off 34) and Heino Kuhn (23 off 19).

A 135-run target seemed an easy chase for the Titans. Major contributions from Dewald Brevis (40 off 28), and Theunis de Bruyn (36*) ensured the Sky Blues reach the target in less than 18 overs.

Dragons’ youngster, Caleb Seleka, dominated with the ball in hand taking the wickets of Brevis and Musawenkosi Twala in two consecutive deliveries. Seleka also dismissed Neil Brand for fifteen runs.

He had the support of Renaldo Meyer (2/19 in four overs), who claimed the wickets of Jiveshen Pillay (15) and Donavon Ferreira (10).

Earlier, the Gbets Rocks claimed a seven-wicket victory via Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.

Rocks won the toss when they elected to put their opponents, Hollywoodbets Dolphins, to the bat first.

Opener, Grant Roelofsen (66 off 48) starred with the bat to deliver another half century for the Dolphins. Roelofsen’s knock featured eight boundaries and one maximum. The other contributions were from Tshepang Dithole (22) and Jason Smith (21*) as Dolphins posted a total of 136/7 in their 20 overs.

Bamanye Xenxe led the attack and recorded career-best figures of 3/21. Xenxe dismissed Bryce Parsons for eight and Jon Jon Smuts for none within powerplay before returning for Roelofsen in the 16th over.

Shaun von Berg and Ferisco Adams were also clinical with ball, returning two wickets each.

The Rocks were 59/3 in eight overs when rain poured down in Potchefstroom. Eight overs were lost in the delay and the revised DLS target of 87 runs made the chase easier for the Paarl-men. They needed 28 off 24 and reached the target with four balls to spare.
