Badgers And Lions Level Up In Oudtshoorn

JOHANNESBURG: The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers and DP World Lions were electric in Oudtshoorn as the hosts claimed victory in the 1-Day Cup whilst Lions secured victory in the T20 Challenge in the latest round of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Professional Women’s Domestic League.

On Saturday, Tazmin Brits blasted a 96-ball 124 (11 fours and 6 maximums) to power Badgers to a 220/10 total that led to a massive 92-run win.

Sarah Nettleton was the pick of the bowlers, returning 4/39 in her 10 overs.

Badgers’ bowling destruction from Khayakazi Mathe (3/16), Haroline Rhodes (2/11), Annerie Dercksen (2/22) and Jane Winster (2/31) saw Lions bowled out for 128 in just under 31 overs.

On Sunday, however, Lions were given the ball first and their disciplined bowling display saw Badgers restricted to 99/4 in their allotted 20 overs.

A decent chase for Lions who ended the innings on 100/6, winning the game by four-wickets thanks to contributions from Kirstie Thomson (31) and Madison Landsman (29).
