ANOTHER BONUS POINT FOR TITANS & DOLPHINS BOUNCE BACK

POTCHEFSTROOM: The Momentum Multiply Titans secured another bonus point win whilst Hollywoodbets Dolphins claimed their first victory in the Cricket South Africa (CSA) T20 Challenge on Wednesday.

All eyes were on the Jukskei derby in the first match of the day between the DP World Lions and Momentum Multiply Titans.

After being asked to bat first, Jiveshen Pillay (61) and Dewald Brevis (30) combined for a 75-run opening partnership as Titans secured a 71-run victory at the JB Marks Oval.

The duo had powered through powerplay to help the Titans take the lead in the match. Other contributions from Sibonelo Makhanya (23) and Theunis de Bruyn (22) saw the Titans end their innings 190/6.

Lions were off to a not-so-great start after losing the wickets of Ryan Rickelton, Cameron Delport, and Dominic Hendricks within the first three overs. Wiaan Mulder (29) and Mitchell van Buuren (19) shared a 56-run stand for the fourth wicket before they fell three deliveries apart. Even Jones (33 off 30), showed some resistance in the middle with little support and Lions were bowled out for 119.

Ayabulela Gqamane, Dewald Brevis, and Junior Dala led the attack for the Titans with two wickets each.

North West Dragons were up against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in the evening match in front of a vibrant home crowd.

Dolphins had a shaky start when Kerwin Mungroo dismissed Grant Roelofsen with nine runs. Bryce Parsons (21) fell to Delano Potgieter and Jon Jon Smuts (22) was caught by Heino Kuhn off Senuran Muthusamy.

An unlucky run out of Marques Ackerman brought Jason Smith to the crease. Khaya Zondo’s unbeaten 42* off 40 and Smith (34 off 27) provided an anchoring partnership of 73 runs to take Dolphins to a competitive total.

Zondo then shared a 20-run run partnership with Andile Simelane who smashed two maximums in his (13* off 4) as Dolphins ended the innings on 163/5.

Dragons struggled to form any key partnerships with opener, Wesley Marshall (25 off 19) and Duan Jansen (20) being the only notable contributions with the bat.

Ottniel Baartman grabbed three wickets, two scalps for Eathan Bosch and everyone chipped in to restrict the Dragons to 133/9 and Dolphins winning the match by 30 runs.
