
13 Nov DAY 1 WRAP – CSA AND SASA II TRI-NATION SERIES KICKS OFF IN TSHWANE
TSHWANE: The Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the South African Sports Association for the Intellectually Impaired (SASA-II) Tri-Nation Series for persons with intellectual disabilities kicked-off at Groenkloof Oval on Sunday.
South Africa (SA) fell 21-runs short of the target in the opening match against Australia.
Batting first, Australia posted a defendable 136/4 in 20 overs, thanks to Gavan Hicks’ 73 off 63 and additional runs from Lukas Woodhouse (29).
Hicks was run-out by Mandla Ncolu, Gentley Motalane returned 2/20 and a single scalp from Tenszil September in the bid to restrict the Australians.
Notable contributions from Mpho Selaolane (31), and Motalane (20) helped SA to 115/6, just 21 runs short of the target.
Australia’s Luke and Jesse Goodman recorded 3/12 and 2/27, respectively, to help restrict the hosts.

In the second encounter of the day, England opted to bat first against Australia to end the innings on 171/5.
Half centuries from openers, Daniel Bowser (62 off 43), and Ronnie Jackson (74 off 57) set the tone for England’s innings.
Luke Goodman continued his wicket-taking streak, returning 3/36 , backed by Lachlan McRae’s two scalps in the bid to restrict the Australian side.
Australia was then restricted to 108/6 and England secured a 63 run win.
