FIRST ODI WASHED OUT IN EAST LONDON

EAST LONDON: The first Betway One-Day International (ODI) between the Proteas and West Indies was abandoned without a ball being bowled at Buffalo Park in East London on Thursday.

Intermittent rain in the city had left the game in doubt and there was little improvement as the day progressed, leaving umpires Adrian Holdstock and Marais Erasmus little choice when they finally reached their decision nearly four hours after the scheduled start time.

The second match between the two sides takes place at the same venue on Saturday.
