A TUSKERS AND BADGERS FINAL – DIVISION 2 CSA ONE DAY CUP CONCLUDES

JOHANNESBURG: The 2022/23 Cricket South Africa (CSA) One Day Cup concludes this week with both finals set to play on the 28th and 29th December, respectively.

The Division 2 final will see defending champions, AET Tuskers host the showdown for a second consecutive year in Pietermaritzburg as they face up against Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers.

Badgers qualified for the final in a nail-biting finish in their last round-robin match against Eastern Cape Iinyathi, whilst Tuskers finished comfortably after wining five of the six matches.

Tuskers captain, Michael Erlank, commented on the success of this season’s campaign; “It’s always a pleasure and a privilege to be part of yet another 1-Day Cup final.

“This year’s campaign has been challenging, we played some good cricket, and had really tight encounters which we fought hard to win. As a team we can take positives and confidence out of scrapping and getting over the line in most games.

“To be able to make it into the final this year just shows the consistence of the group. As cricketers that’s what we strive for and shows what we are capable of as a Union.

“It will be important for us to retain this trophy; a lot of cricketers need to make their mark in SA cricket and bringing another trophy can move us all forward as a team and a Union.

“Our aim is always to prioritize the development and future of KZN Inland Union,” Erlank concluded.

Badgers captain, Onke Nyaku, said; “Our campaign has been a frustrating one to say the least, injuries have played their part and it’s been a hit-and-miss with our performances on the field.

“We are yet to play our best form of cricket and the importance of playing in a final is a massive one.

“We want to play winning cricket, and we will take this game like any other game with the objective to win.

“The team has had some time to reflect before the final and we will be ready when it’s time to play,” Nyaku concluded.

Fans are encouraged to turn up in numbers and bring vibrant colours to join the family affair with a picnic, music, and braai, to enjoy the #SummerOfCricket.

The Division 2 final match will be streamed live on the CSA YouTube Page and ball-by-ball action will be available live on the CSA App.
