14 Feb HIGH SCORES ALL-ROUND IN GQEBERHA TODAY
GQEBERHA: The third round of the CSA T20 Challenge saw some of the highest scores recorded in the tournament so far including Hollywoodbets Dolphins’ 211 runs and Tristan Stubbs’ unbeaten 80 off 31 balls.
The first match of the day between the Gbets Warriors and Hollywoodbets Dolphins is the highest-scoring encounter thus far in the tournament.
The Hollywoodbets Dolphins batters had a great start as the 75-run opening partnership between Bryce Parsons (39 off 31 – 3 boundaries and 1 six) and Grant Roelofsen (50 off 30 with 7 boundaries and 2 sixes), followed by David Miller’s 58 off 26 balls (2 boundaries and 6 maximums) saw the KZN-based side end their innings on 211/6.
Having won the toss and elected to field first, the Gbets Warriors batters found themselves chasing the highest score of the tournament.
An explosive unbeaten 80 off 31 balls from Tristan Stubbs (3 boundaries and 8 sixes) and 47 off 31 (5 fours and 2 sixes) from Jon-Jon Smuts was just not enough as the Hollywoodbets Dolphins limited the Gbets Warriors to 191/6, just 20 runs short of the target. Jason Smith (3/24 in 2 overs).
In the second match of the day, the ITEC Knights took on Momentum Multiply Titans, the latter winning the game by 27 runs.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Momentum Multiply Titans ended their innings on 151/6. Notable performances from Heinrich Klaasen 59* off 41 (4 fours and 2 sixes) and Junior Dala 27* (4 boundaries).
