Proteas captain Faf du Plessis has admitted his worry over the team’s ‘youngish’ batting line-up ahead of their next 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup match.
South Africa have managed just one win at the ongoing tournament in England, with their batting proving to be the side’s Achilles Heel.
According to du Plessis, this is due to a lack of experience in the middle order.
"If you look at opposition, there's been big runs scored by batting lineups. We've got a pretty youngish batting lineup if you take Rassie (van der Dussen), Aiden (Markram), guys like that, even Andile (Phehlukwayo) to a degree. He's going really good at his cricket, but he's young in terms of putting innings together,” du Plessis is quoted by Sport 24.
He added, "So we're not as experienced perhaps as other teams when it comes to that, but, the reason why I say we're not as good as other teams is we're just not producing scores or innings that can win you games."
Du Plessis and the Proteas will be hoping to overcome Pakistan when the teams meet on Sunday 23 June at Lord’s in London.
