Rain forces Bloem abandonment

RAIN and the chasing pack were the big winners in the Sunfoil Series title race as the top-of-the-table clash between the VKB Knights and Multiply Titans was abandoned early on day three at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

No play had been possible on the opening two days due to the wet conditions and even though the forecast was much better for the weekend, there was still rain hanging around on the third morning leaving umpires Lubabalo Gcuma and Clifford Isaacs little choice.

The result means that both teams walked away with five points apiece – enough for the defending champion Titans to stay at the summit, although they could be overhauled by the chasing pack with two other games also on the go.

The Knights have dropped to third behind the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in the course of the current round, but 10 points still separate the top five.
