Captain of the South Africa under-17 Invitational XI, Jean du Plessis and Mujaahid Toffar hit half-centuries to set up a comprehensive, 89-run victory for their side when they faced the Hollywoodbets Dolphins on Day Two of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Franchise Cubs Week in Stellenbosch on Thursday. The U17s set the KZN side a 235-run target after electing to bat first. Du Plessis hit 62 in 91 deliveries (5 fours, 1 six), while Toffar’s 55 came off just 59 (8 fours). The Dolphins struggled to take wickets, only Matthew Lees and Jordan Grobbelaar could manage a respective 2/28 and 2/35 as the U17s ended their allotted 50 overs on 234/7.
The Dolphins were restricted to 145 in 42.4 overs. Keenan Smith was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3/24, with Fraser Jones and Cameron Brunner returning a two each.
