Kayla Ferreira and Mekayla Potgieter took eight wickets between them, setting up Eastern Province’s (EP) four-wicket victory over North West on the final day of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Girls under-19 Week in Pretoria on Tuesday.
EP won the toss and put North West in to bat first, restricting them to 108 in 29.2 overs. Ferriera and Potgieter took 4/7 and 4/26 respectively, while North West’s Clarissa Weyer top scored with an unbeaten 38 from 33 balls.
EP’s Anneke Kapp hit 48 from 80 deliveries to help her side to victory.
At St. Albans, Sibabalwe Takatshane took four wickets for 11 with two wickets a piece for Sinobom Qanga and Thembela Ngcobo to give Kei a six-wicket win over Mpumalanga.
Border snuck a two-wicket win over KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Coastal. The latter were bowled out for 67 runs after being asked to bat first. Thando Chiti and Caelin Hall were the chief destroyers with 4/18 and 4/19 respectively.
Their batting reply did not go well, Hall (19 off 49) hit the most runs but they were helped to victory by 26 runs conceded in extras.
In other matches, Free State ended their tournament on a high with a seven-wicket win over KZN Inland, Limpopo took a convincing, 26-run victory over South Western Districts, Gauteng came out on top over old rivals, Northerns by six wickets and finally, Easterns suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Western Province.
