THE VKB Knights ended a forgettable T20 Challenge campaign on a positive note as they won an eight-over-per side clash against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins by nine wickets on the Duckworth/Lewis method at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead in Durban on Sunday.
The result was their second victory in a row after seven straight defeats earlier in the competition had left them rooted to the bottom of the table where they eventually finished.
Rain had threatened to wash out their final match on the east coast, but after an initial 45-minute delay, the match was reduced to a T19, before a further delay.
They eventually returned for eight overs each with the hosts posting 59/5, which was adjusted to 65 after they had batted 2.2 over prior to the delay. Khaya Zondo top-scored with an unbeaten 22, while Mbulelo Budaza was the pick of the bowlers with 2/13.
The Dolphins, who had lost the toss and were asked to bat, needed quick wickets if they were to stand a chance, but they only managed the one of Rudi Second, who was dismissed by Mthokozisi Shezi (1/8) for 7.
Patrick Kruger hit an unbeaten 34 off 19 balls and David Miller made 18 off 13 as the visitors cruised to a bonus point win with 12 balls to spare.
The Dolphins ended the competition in fifth position on 15 points, one ahead of the Knights.
