JOHAN MÜLLER has recently been appointed as the Cricket Operations Manager of the Northerns Cricket Union.
Müller was Coaching Manager of the Northerns Cricket Union for five years before he inherited the position of Acting Cricket Operations manager when Volvo Masubelele joined the Proteas. He has now been promoted to full-time Operations Manager.
Only a few passionate cricket coaches have a level two Cricket Australia coaching certificate and also possess a Cricket South Africa level three coaching certificate. Müller is a member of the elite and has utilized it to empower young cricketers in the Northerns area.
Besides a degree in Sport Psychology, he also possesses certificates in Business Management and Strategic Management, and will combine his passion for the development of the players and his commercial business interests to maintain and improve programs of excellence to sustain the superb pipeline-structures of Northerns.
Müller also wishes to address the management of areas where there has been a decline in cricket interest, such as English language premier schools in the area. Developing even more innovative programmes and structures to keep the amateur- and semi-professional game in excellent shape, is part of his vision for the future.
“The CSA scorecard programme is activity based and measures the quality of the programmes. My aim is to sustain the levels and even improve on it so that we continually produce quality players, coaches and cricket administrators,” he said.
“I wish to congratulate Johan on his appointment. His background, qualifications, passion for the game and desire to see young players flourish, has been rewarded with his new appointment.
“It’s a package that comes with its challenges, but Johan is well-suited to meet these head on and to write a new exciting chapter in the development of the region’s amateur cricket,” said Jacques Faul, Chief Executive Officer of The Unlimited Titans.
