46.4AU Rashid to TD Paine, 1 run,
46.3AU Rashid to TD Paine, 2 runs, more flight outside off, Paine stretches and fetches, a hard sweep to deep square leg for a brace.
46.2AU Rashid to MP Stoinis, BYES, 1 run, bye? Flight outside off, Stoinis misses a drive, the ball deflects off Buttler's gloves for one to third man.
46.1AU Rashid to MP Stoinis, BOUNDARY, 4 runs, power! Rashid does not want to bowl full, he is short and a tad wide, Stoinis stays back and lofts the ball intentionally over cover. Terrific batting.

Rashid: "How Rashid bowls his remaining 2 overs is key... Will change the game either way"

Kevin: "Lets be honest, as soon as Plunkett went down it should have been game over for England. Root had to bowl 9 overs - and yes he bowled all those good overs in Brisbane, but he didn't have to bowl so could have been taken off whenever. Here he had to get through the overs regardless, and credit to Finch for recognising that! The pitch has looked much better in the second innings for batting. Again though, its all Finch. Smith far to negative for me, and let the chase get away from them!"

Fahim Ahmed: "It looks like the wicket has eased up a little bit (coming on a little better) than the first innings.. isn't it? Maybe because it's under lights? Australia has batted well too. Credit to Morgan the way he has handled the loss of Plunkett. Exciting finish we have on our hands. Finger crossed for an England win "

90 off 60, the extra fielder can go out now.

Ian Goodacre: "Re Smiths dismissal, it is only because of modern technology that we had to wait 5 minutes. 20 years ago or at every local club game today that was out, why? Because the umpire said so. I'm of the opinion that technology has actually ruined the sport." One way of looking at it.

shoaib rana: "Why should the benefit of doubt go the batsman only, don't we already have everything favouring the batsmen in the sport of cricket. I say we make a written rule that BoD would always go to the fielding side."

Justin: "@Nikhil how could you say the decision was correct??!!! There are many of these where it is almost impossible to tell but that was clearly wrong and only given because of the soft signal. I agree there has to be something from the on field umpires to guide the process but in this case they were simply guessing. " The third umpire's decision was correct. But I also must add, it did look out to me in real time.

Carl: "I'd have said the right call was made by the third umpire and without the soft signal it would have been overturned. Tv replays can look misleading in such marginal cases and without a soft signal many legitimate catches would not be given." Agreed.

orkydd: "Are we reading the umpire's mind here. Maybe they DID think it was out, and were checking whether there was any evidence that it may have touched the ground. TV images too blurred to tell, so probably out. I'm pretty sure 'benefit of the doubt' is not a Law of Cricket!

Paul AJ Saw: "The wrong decision was made but the process is right. If things didn't go to the 3rd umpire he'd be still given out. Soft signal or not. So it doesn't make a difference. But surely there was clear evidence to overturn it. " I'd say the decision was right, but the process wrong. If the umpires were sure, but they wanted to check, a soft signal makes sense. If they have no idea, why influence the decision?

Ramis: "Time to abolish the soft signal rule, perhaps? I understand giving the umpires some leeway, but on decisions like these they're just guessing and it puts the batsman in an almost unwinnable situation." Batsman and bowlers both, but agree with the principle.

Rob: "The soft call incentivises deliberate, strong responses from the fielding side. The benefit of the doubt is practically removed from the game, and that call is a perfect illustration of that. Can't imagine Aus fans are too happy" Why should the umpires make a soft signal if they aren't sure? If they are sure, then great.

"Finch was a little unlucky there," ruminates John. "Ball-tracking said he was out but, when it's only clipping like that, you have to kinda think that the umpire should have had enough doubt to give the benefit of it to the batsman. That said, I thought it was straighter than that on first view. Finch seemed pretty confident when he reviewed too, for no apparent reason."
