Sooryanarayanan: "Doesn't Bailey's stance resemble that of Ijaz Ahmed to an extent?" --- Think Ijaz had a closed stance too, but this from Bailey is wierd. He gets into some funny positions. His closed stance is more pronounced, phew. The front leg is nowhere in line with the back leg

|3.6||TA Boult to SPD Smith, OUT, No run, Boult strikes again. After bowling six deliveries on off or outside off, Boult brings this one back into the hips with the angle from around the stumps. Teases Smith to flick, despite the presence of two catching midwickets and a square leg. The Australia captain shuffles across off, but can't keep it down. MOHIT singla: "3 matches 19 runs for Finch including a duck ..why cant Maxi replace Finch?"

|2.2||TG Southee to DA Warner, No run, chopped down to the covers.|
|2.1||TG Southee to DA Warner, No run, excellent ball. Pitches on middle and skirts away past the outside edge. Wobbles through to the keeper. Southee attempted a cross-seamer. It hit the deck and curved away past the groping bat.|
|1.6||TA Boult to SPD Smith, No run, good length and slanted across Smith, left alone in the channel.|
Adrian: "Finally Boult and Southee in tandem and look what happens "
|1.5||TA Boult to AJ Finch, OUT, No run, Another failure for Finch, he picks out Nicholls to perfection at square leg. Good length and Boult finds inswing again. Finch looks to thump it down the ground from outside off with no feet, he can only drag an inside edge, which carries to Nicholls. That looked ungainly from Finch.|
Andy: "This is a big game for Finch. Averaging just 27 in the last 13 innings. Surely Khawaja can't be far from getting his place."
|1.4||TA Boult to AJ Finch, No run, short on off, not any room to free his arms. Chopped to point now.|
|1.3||TA Boult to AJ Finch, No run, back of a length on off, chopped out to the covers.|
|1.2||TA Boult to AJ Finch, No run, full and straightens, but not enough. Boult searches for some inswing, Finch plays around his front pad, and falls over the flick. This was clearly heading past the leg stump. Finch weathers the lbw shout.|
|1.1||TA Boult to AJ Finch, No run, full and pushed across the right-hander, who lets it pass to Watling.|
Here is Boult from the other end. Over the wicket

|0.5||TG Southee to DA Warner, No run, full and holds its line on middle, Warner presses forward and pushes to mid-off with a dead-straight bat.|

|0.1||TG Southee to DA Warner, WIDE, 1 run, very full and outside off, angling away further. Warner simply lets it pass. Watling nearly gloves it in front of first slip. Off-side wide.|
2.20pm Finch and Warner make their way out to the middle. Southee takes the new ball this time. Over the stumps. Just one slip in position to add to short cover
1.50pm Australia win the toss and choose to bat. The hosts bat first for the third time in a row. They are unchanged, which means Maxwell has been ignored again.
New Zealand have left out Neesham due to continued pain in the right forarm, which was struck by a 148 kph Starc thunderbolt. Nicholls gets a look-in. Ferguson, meanwhile, has been recalled in place of Henry
Aaron: "With Neesham out NZ have one less bowling option than the last two games. If Australia can knock Ferguson off his stride then Williamson will have to bowl himself "
Jonathan Kenner: "Nicholl's last chance, surely? When has he ever done anything, ever, in any format? He just doesn't have the goods unfortunately."
Jason: "Agree with Pete on giving Todd Astle a go. Santner is a talent, but just isn't performing well enough with the bat at the moment and the series is dead."
Australia XI: Warner, Finch, Smith (capt), Bailey, Mitchell Marsh, Head, Wade (wk), Faulkner, Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood
New Zealand XI 1 Latham, 2 Guptill, 3 Williamson (capt), 4 Nicholls, 5 Munro, 6 Watling (wk), 7 Santner, 8 De Grandhomme, 9 Ferguson, 10 Southee, 11 Boult.
Pete: "What was the point of taking Todd Astle to Australia if they weren't going to play him? The NZ ODI bowling performances have been some of the worst in recent memory."
Ankush Gokarn: "@Jack @AOK Currently everyone in the Australian team has a point to prove except Warner and Smith... no wonder even Wade's pumped up"
Amy: "Have to say I think Vettori os who we are missing most in this bowling line up...he had an uncanny ability to slow things down and restrict whenever the game looked to be getting away from us. In the CWC pool match Aus were 80/1 after around 11/12 overs before he came in and took a wicket and changed the course of the game; allowing the strike bowlers to rip through the order."
1.40pm Daniel Brettig's preview will tell you everything you need to know for now. Toss in 10 minutes.
Brad: "New Zealand are missing a slow bowler for the middle of the order, someone to keep the runs in check, like Larsen or Harris! "
Jack: "@AOK: last time Maxi had a point to prove he smashed 140 odd in a T20 match."
AOK: "I really hope Maxwell gets a look in today. If so, he will certainly have a point to prove!"
Vinay: "Very hard to see a NZ win here. Before we've been able to cover for poor batting displays with constricting bowling and fielding, and blast our way to chase high totals...but all disciplines have been lacking (less so the batting, though there's a distinct lack of firepower). "
Dipendra Shrest: "I want to see Australia chase and see how they fare. New Zealand need more from their middle order."
1.35pm Good afternoon, everyone. Australia and New Zealand return to the MCG - the venue of the 2015 World Cup final. The Chappell-Hadlee series, though, is dead; Australia have already reclaimed the trophy. Smith and Warner have led the way with the bat, Starc and Hazlewood with the ball. Cummins too showed sparks of brilliance at the Manuka Oval. New Zealand, on the other hand, have been sloppy in all departments, and need to fire in unison if they are to prevent a whitewash.
